SP3! was born when Sy Park decided to collaborate with Jake Blomgren, Darren Flynn, and Terry Flynn under the moniker Stone, Paper, Scissors. All four musicians were of Korean extraction and Sy decided to give a nod to their shared ethnicity by titling their project “The Yellow Album” and the group also brought Reed Sutter into the mix to help record and produce the music (dubbing him an honorary Korean for the length of the project). The Yellow Album didn’t ever get released, but it did begin a productive and multi-year collaboration between Reed, Jake, and Darren which kicked off in 1997 with the release of their power-pop masterpiece “Next Stop… World Domination” under the new moniker SP3! (which stands for “super power trio!”).

SP3! were absolutely electric on stage, bringing an insane amount of energy to every performance. They may have only released the one album but everybody who ever saw them perform remembers the experience.
